Oxford Town Hall Wedding – Rebecca & Bono
Oxford Town Hall is one of those venues that quietly steals your heart. Grand without being intimidating, central without feeling chaotic, and filled with character at every turn. On the 10th November 2025, I had the pleasure of photographing Rebecca & Bono’s wedding, with both their ceremony and wedding breakfast taking place entirely inside the Oxford Town Hall.
November weddings often bring a calmer, more intimate feel, and this day was no exception. From the moment guests arrived, there was a relaxed warmth to the atmosphere – the kind that lets moments unfold naturally, without being rushed or over-produced. That’s exactly the sort of environment where documentary wedding photography really shines.
Rebecca & Bono were married in the St Aldates Room, which is perfect for couples planning an intimate Oxford Town Hall wedding ceremony. The room has a calm, welcoming feel and works beautifully for ceremonies of up to around 40 guests, making it ideal for smaller weddings that still want a sense of occasion.
The ceremony felt personal and relaxed, with everyone close enough to truly share the moment. The proportions of the room lend themselves well to documentary-style wedding photography – there’s space to move discreetly, soft natural light, and a layout that keeps the focus firmly on the couple rather than the room itself.

Wedding Breakfast at Oxford Town Hall – The Assembly Room
After the ceremony, the celebrations moved into the Assembly Room for the wedding breakfast. This is the grandest space inside Oxford Town Hall and can comfortably host wedding receptions of up to 120 guests. Even though Rebecca & Bono’s wedding was on the smaller side, the room still felt full of life – they completely filled the space with warmth, conversation, and laughter.
The scale of the Assembly Room adds a sense of drama, with its high ceilings and elegant architecture, while still feeling welcoming rather than overwhelming. One of my favourite moments of the day was taking group photos in the Old Library, just next door, gathered around the grand fireplace – a timeless setting that worked perfectly for relaxed, natural group portraits.
A Relaxed, Documentary-Style Oxford Wedding
One of the highlights of the day was spending time with Rebecca & Bono exploring Oxford Town Hall for their couple portraits. We wandered through the building, making use of its incredible variety of spaces – from the sweeping staircases, which are always brilliant for wedding photos, to the darker, more intimate corners that give images a cinematic feel.
Rebecca & Bono mentioned they felt a little shy in front of the camera at first, but you’d never know it from the photos. They were completely at ease together, and once they settled into the moment, everything felt natural and unforced. This is exactly why I love photographing weddings in venues like Oxford Town Hall – there’s no need to rush, and plenty of beautiful backdrops that allow couples to simply be themselves.
